Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde

Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde was born on May 11, 1966, into the distinguished family of High Chief Samuel Olatunde Joseph, the Onisalu Afobaje of Ilogbo-Eremi Kingdom, in Ilogbo-Eremi, Olorunda LCDA, Badagry, Lagos.

Hon. Olatunde’s educational journey began at Maza-Maza Community Primary School, Kuje Amuwo, Lagos State, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1982. He then attended Amuwo Grammar School, Agboju, completing his West African Examination Council (WAEC) Certificate in 1988. Driven by a passion for knowledge, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos, graduating in 1995. Further advancing his academic qualifications, he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from LASU in 2008. In 2011, he earned a professional certification as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACIT), Nigeria, underscoring his commitment to excellence in finance and taxation.

Hon. Olatunde's diverse career path across various organizations has furnished him with a wealth of experience as an astute administrator. His career began as an Account Officer with Josaf Technical Engineering Limited, Lagos, from 1988 to 1990. Subsequently, he served as a Research Manager at International Publishing and Research Company Ltd., Lagos, between 1995 and 1997. Hon. Olatunde’s dedication to public service was evident early on when he was appointed Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Lagos, from 1997 to 1998. His passion for education led him to Luciana College, Odan Isashi, Lagos, where he served as Vice Principal from 1990 to 2000.

Hon. Olatunde joined the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) in 2000 as a Senior Revenue Supervisor, a role he held until 2017. During his tenure at LIRS, he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Head of the Motor Tax Unit (2000-2004), Head of the Employment Section (2005-2007), Deputy Head of the Informal Sector and Tax Enlightenment (2007-2009), Head of the Badagry/Ojo LASTMA/VIO Unit (2009-2011), and Zonal Head of the Ojo Tax Station, Ijanikin Zone (2016-2017). His stewardship in these roles reflected his dedication to fostering transparency and efficiency within the state’s tax administration.

In 2015, Hon. Olatunde was appointed a member of the Caretaker Committee for Olorunda LCDA, where he served as the Supervisor for Health and Environmental Services and chaired the Revenue Committee. His exceptional leadership qualities led him to contest the position of Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area in 2017, a race he won decisively. His first term as Chairman was marked by significant accomplishments, earning him the trust of his community and the consensus endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to re-contest in 2021. Following his re-election, Hon. Olatunde has continued to serve with unwavering dedication as the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, driving impactful initiatives and fostering growth and development within the community.

Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde is happily married to Mrs. Oluwakemi Abimbola Olatunde, and together they are blessed with beautiful children. His life and work exemplify a steadfast commitment to service, community upliftment, and responsible leadership.
